Salt is a superb supportive treatment when treating koi for a wide variety of ailments, can be used as a dip and can be used to kill parasites and bacteria at high strength. Helps lessen the burden on the koi’s osmoregulatory system in other words helps keep the koi’s fluid bodily level in balance.

Dosage for use as a general supportive treatment and tonic is 300 grams per 100 ltrs, 3000 grams per 1000 ltr or 30 kg for 10000 ltrs, this will give you 0.3 % on a Hanna salt merer.

As a supportive when treating bacterial infection with other treatments, such as Acriflavine up to 600 grams per 100 ltrs, 6000 grams per 1000 ltr or 60 kg for 10000 ltrs, this will give you 0.6 % on a koi medic salt meter.

As a short term dip, salt can be used up to 40 grams per litre or 4 % on your koi medic salt pen for 10 minutes or until the koi shows signs of distress, whichever is the shorter.

These salt concentrations are for short term dips only and must not be used in the pond or quarantine ponds, return the fish to the pond immediately if it shows any signs of stress or losses balance.

We strongly recommend using the Hanna salt pen to measure the %/ppt of the salt solution in your tanks, its very difficult to sustain the right %/ppt once you have put the salt in due to water changes etc.

Should not be used with Formalin or Potassium Permangenate.
